GEI Consultants Promotes Eight

BOSTON— GEI Consultants, Inc., one of the nation’s leading geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and ecological science and engineering firms, announced that it has promoted eight individuals within the firm.

 

“GEI is staffed with talented and hard-working people who are recognized as leaders in their individual areas of expertise,” said Ray Hart, P.E., G.E., chief operating officer for GEI, Consultants. “I am very proud to announce the advancement of these eight exceptional members of our team.” 

 

Naser Bateni, P.E., a member of GEI’s Board of Directors, has been promoted to the position of senior vice president. An executive principal engineer, Naser has over 30 years of experience in water resources planning and water management, including planning for major surface and groundwater infrastructures, flood management, integrated water resource planning, conjunctive management of surface and groundwater resources, and groundwater management planning. Prior work experience includes eleven years of flood management and flood operations and thirteen years of water resource planning with the California Department of Water Resources. He received his bachelor’s degree in Irrigation Engineering from the University of Tabriz, in Iran, and his master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering from the University of California, Davis. He is a registered civil engineer in the state of California, and is located in GEI’s Sacramento, Calif. office.

 

Christopher J. Stockwell, GEI’s chief marketing officer, has been promoted to the position of senior vice president. Chris is an expert in business-to-business marketing and business development, with over 25 years experience in professional services marketing, web and business software applications. He has responsibility for GEI's overall branding and market sector positioning, business pipeline, on-line presence, external communications and other marketing and business development programs. His broad programs support GEI regions, offices, practice areas and staff. Chris joined GEI in 2006.  Chris received his master’s in management degree (MBA) in marketing from Northwestern University's J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He received his bachelor's degree in political science from Northwestern as well.  Chris is located in GEI’s Woburn, Mass. headquarters.

 

Robert N. Lambe, Ph.D., P.G., a senior consultant within the firm's environmental practice area, has been promoted to the position of vice president. His primary focus is to build the nuclear power practice within GEI's Power group. Robert has focused his career on developing permits, site characterization, environmental impact studies, and designing and constructing remedial systems for large and complex industrial sites, internationally. His education includes a bachelor's degree in Geology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a master's degree and doctorate in Geology and Geochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a professional geologist in North Carolina and a registered geologist in Tennessee and has been widely published in an array of environmental and remedial trade publications dating back to 1974. He is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), the Association of the U.S. Army, the American Nuclear Society and the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration. Robert is located in GEI's Woburn, Mass. headquarters.

 

Steven P. Canton, a vice president at GEI, has been promoted to the position of senior aquatic ecologist, grade 8. Steve is highly involved in all aspects of the firm’s ecological practice including the design of aquatic sampling programs, field sampling of aquatic habitats, data analysis, supervision of aquatic biological and chemical laboratory contracts, and the quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) of contracted biological sampling and toxicity testing. Professional memberships include the American Entomological Society, the Ecological Society of America, the North American Benthological Society, the North American Lake Management Society, the Society of the Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, the Water Environmental Federation, and the Colorado Lake and Reservoir Management Association.  He has co-authored nearly fifty articles on the subjects of ecology and the environment, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from St. Olaf College and a master’s degree in Zoology with a specialization in Stream Ecology and Limnology from Colorado State University. A member of GEI’s Board of Directors and senior management team, Steve is located in the firm’s Littleton, Colo. office.

 

Don T. Kurosaka, P.E. has been promoted to the position of senior consultant in GEI's water resources practice. With more than 35 years of experience in the field, his expertise is in developing water-related projects in California and the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta area, focusing on conceptual planning, feasibility studies, design and construction, environmental permitting, and start-up operations. He has specific familiarity with the operations of California's State Water Project and his extensive technical background involves evaluating the economic feasibility of projects for major power facilities and conveyance structures. In addition to being a licensed civil engineer in the state of California, Don is also a California registered structural engineer and has experience in analyzing and designing complex structures that are subject to seismic and wind loading conditions. Don holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Davis, and a master's degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from the California State University Sacramento. He located in the firm's Sacramento, Calif. Office.

 

David B. Terry, P.G., LEP, a vice president with the firm, has been promoted to the position of senior consultant. He has been an environmental consultant since 1990 and was elected to GEI’s Board of Directors in 2008. Since 1999, he has acted as a client service manager and team leader for one of GEI’s electric and gas utility service teams. Widely published, Dave has written on such diverse topics as manufactured gas plant (MGP) remediation, stream restoration, and groundwater remediation for publications of the National Groundwater Association (NGWA), Maryland Department of Natural Resources (MD DNR), the Gas Technology Institute (GTI), and the American Fisheries Society (AFS) among others. He is also an active member of EPOC, the NGWA, and the Association of Groundwater Scientists and Engineers. Dave’s technical expertise is derived through his educational background as a geologist and a hydrogeochemist and through a career spent evaluating and remediating contaminated sites. He holds a bachelors degree in Geology from the State University of New York and a master’s degree in Geology from Kansas State University. Dave is a registered professional geologist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a licensed environmental professional in the state of Connecticut. He is located in GEI’s Glastonbury, Conn.

 

Don J. Conklin, Jr., has been promoted to the position of senior project manager and aquatic ecologist, grade 7 for GEI’s ecology practice. Experienced in multiple aspects of aquatic ecology, Don’s expertise includes the design of aquatic sampling programs, the supervision of data collection and analysis, field sampling of organisms in a variety of habitats, and identifying and enumerating biological samples. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Cornell University and a master’s degree in Water Resources Management with a specialization in Aquatic Ecology from the University of Wisconsin. Don is actively involved in the American Fisheries Society, the North American Benthological Society, the North American Lake Management Society and the Colorado Lake and Reservoir Management Association. He has been published more than a dozen times, and is located in the firm’s Littleton, Colo. office.

 

Graham C. Bradner, P.G., C.E.G., C.H.G., has been promoted to the position of senior geologist within GEI’s geotechnical group. His experience includes supervising geotechnical, hydrogeologic and environmental investigations and evaluation projects, as well as subsurface exploration, subsurface and aquifer characterization, well design and groundwater modeling. Graham is a professional geologist, a certified engineering geologist, and a certified hydrogeologist in the state of California. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Geology and a master’s degree in Hydrogeology from Clemson University. He is located in GEI’s Sacramento, Calif. office.
